It’s finally here!!! We’ve been saving and waiting and waiting and waiting to get this new camera…the Canon 5D…and on Sunday we finally ordered it! With a great instant rebate savings of $300, we expedited the order with 2 day shipping. We also got a few new lenses: the Canon 135mm 2.0 and the Canon 24-105mm f4, they are awesome lenses! Here are a few shots using our new toys.

I know, this is a week late. But I wanted to post a few photos from Mother’s Day last Sunday. Jojo, Tiff, and I drove up to LA to see my mom and my Nanay (grandmother). We hopped into my mom’s Camry and spent the afternoon at Santa Monica Pier and the Bubba Gump Shrimp restaurant. You know it was good because I took pictures of the food!
This was a memorial on the beach, just below the Santa Monica Pier.

Last night my friend Stellan invited me to see Kathleen Edwards in concert. I haven’t heard of her before this, but I know that if Stellan says it’s going to be good, it will be GOOD. And he was right…it was a fantastic concert! This girl, from Canada by the way, sings her heart out. She is real, pure, and she rocks hard. I liked every song, even having never heard the songs before, which is rare. Usually it takes a few listens to get into a new artist.
She played various guitars throughout the 2 hour performance, although she seemed to have an affinity for her beat-up old acoustic. I really preferred the sound of that acoustic along with the 2 electric guitars and base player in her band. She also played her violin for a few songs, as well as the harmonica, which was awesome. She’s appearing on Jay Leno this Friday, I think she’s going to take-off soon. Her music is just great to listen to; lyrics, melody, instruments, all of it. I’m so lucky to have seen her play in person for my first time ever hearing the music, she really creates a warm and commanding presence on stage. And she’s so much fun! I definitely recommend her music, which I would describe as a singer/songwriter blending country and rock to create her own original sound.

You’ve all probably seen the news about the Chipotle restaurant in East County San Diego, and how it started the first major Hepatitis A outbreak in San Diego. Well if you haven’t, you can read about it here.
Even though there is a sign in every public bathroom that says “Employees Must Wash Hands,” how many employees actually wash their hands after using the bathroom? I’m not taking any chances, I had my Hepatits A shot today, yihoo!

It happened again…another migraine. This is twice in 1 week! I have accepted the fact that my migraines are hereditary and there’s no way of avoiding them, and I have accepted the fact that I get them about 2 times per year, on average. But twice in 1 week? I can’t accept that. These things are horrible. There is so much pain and pressure in my head that I always find myself considering ways to completely put an end to it all; any possible way to stop the pain.
To make things worse, I took my last migraine pill last Sunday, so I was left with nothing to smite the pain last night. A friend at the table tennis club (which is where I was getting ready to play league night) gave me half of a vicodin after seeing me slumped over on a bench. I rushed home because vicodin is supposed to make you sleepy. It did nothing! The pain was as rampant as ever. Luckily, another friend (thanks Angie!) at the club had Imitrex in her purse and gave up 1 life-saving pill. I was fine after a good night’s sleep. Now, it’s time to find myself a stash of Imitrex!!!

So it begins! Today I went to my first engagement session…as a photographer! Well, let me clarify…I was lucky enough to assist my good friend Hung Tran on HIS engagement session. And what a great experience…so much fun, so challenging, and so overwhelming! I learned a lot today, but mostly I learned that I know so little about photography. Nonetheless, I am inspired by watching Hung do his magic with this beautiful couple. Here are a few images I took from today’s session.
